Markdown newlines fail with embedded HTML

When replying to a message with embedded HTML, the Markdown converter fails to process empty newlines in Markdown (i.e., two lines with a blank space each). The result is a message without empty newlines, where all text appears very compact and cluttered.

Once the HTML is discarded, the Markdown converter processes newlines as expected.
Common Markdown features, such as bold font, work properly with embedded HTML, but not thorough test was performed.
