Setting line-height in compose view?

Reported by Nikita Ourazbaev | August 19th, 2019 @ 10:26 PM

I can’t seem to use the Line-Height Delta control to set the line-height of the plain-text compose view.

Additionally, I looked in ~/Library/Application Support/Mailmate for a relevant CSS file but did not find a “Resources” directory.

Is it possible to adjust the compose view’s line-height?

Many thanks.

I have the exact same question. Would love to change the line height in both the composer and the viewer.

I have created a CSS file but can't figure out what I need to change in order to change the right parts of the application. I tried something global like turning all the text red, but that doesn't seem to have any effect. May be user error.

The best you can currently do is to change font size. Doing this for the message viewer does not work for HTML messages.

In the message view then the minimum font size setting is also relevant (in the Viewer settings pane) and this also works for HTML.

Benny, maybe I misunderstand you, but I'm talking about

    • The compose preview
    • The default view of received or sent messages with no fancy formatting applied

These both appear to have the line height set too small. In most web sites, for example, for body text, it's about 1.2–1.4x the font size. For example, on this page! That aids with readability. MailMate seems to be defaulting to 1.0x.

If what you're saying is that this is not currently possible, can I submit it as a feature request?

    • State changed from “new” to “accepted”

    Sorry about the misunderstanding.

    The composer (distances in points):

    defaults write com.freron.MailMate MmComposerLineSpacing 5.0

The viewer is more tricky. Plain text emails do allow a theme (as set in the Viewer preferences pane), but these are currently not as easy to change as they should be. If they were then it would be possible to use CSS (line-height).

In both cases, I guess it would be nice if this was just built-in to the “Choose Font...” interface which already provides line spacing for mailbox/message-list.
