can't send messages from one of my accounts and can't delete the source

Reported by louise | January 10th, 2019 @ 05:19 AM

Hi,

I am not able to send outgoing messages from my main service provider using mailmate (other than this problem, I am really liking this product. I was also having this problem from Mac mail that I am still using while doing a trial run of MailMate and my service provider suggested I delete the imap server and reinstate it. This worked for macmail so I decided to try the same thing with Mailmate but when I try to delete the problematic “source”, the app quits unexpectedly. By the way, I am also having the app crash for no reason that I can see once or twice a day. I am on the Mojave operating system. Is macmail perhaps incompatible with Mojave?

If you can solve this problem, there is a good chance that I will register the program as I do like the interface and love the searching possibilities.

Thanks,

Louise

My system: MailMate/5579 MacBookPro15,2/x86_64/8/10.14.2

First try updating to the latest test release: Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane. The crashes might be a fixed issue.

I'll need more details for the sending issue itself. What are your SMTP settings (**not** your password)?

HiBenny and thanks for your quick reply. I downloaded the latest version as you suggested but got an error message when trying to install "Error moving current version. Error: read-only file system". As for my smtp settings, I will send them to you via email.

Hi Benny. For some reason my emails are not getting though properly (can't be associated with the ticket) so here are my stmp settings:

SMTP Server: smtp.videotron.ca (also tried relais.videotron.ca that has worked in the past)
Port: Blank at the moment but tried 465 with and without SSL checked off
SSL is checked at the moment
Usernsmer and Password: are correct because I use it on MacMail without any problem

Since last communicating with you, I have completely unistalled and reinstalled MailMate but the problem persits.

Not entirely sure why but I solved the problem. I think it may have something to do with Apple's two-factor authentification authentification although I thought that would have created problems with my Icloud (Apple) account and not my email account with my service provider. Perhaps it was something else but I made so many changes to my settings that I kinda loss track of things at some point. I will now try and evaluate your software to see if it suits my needs. Thank you for trying to help me solve the problem.

Sorry about the late reply. It does seem like smtp.videotron.ca has issues with port 587. My guess you made it work using port 465 with SSL enabled.

    (I don't think it's related to iCloud.)

    Thanks for your patience.
