Message sort order is not remembered across app instances

Reported by Mike Conley | November 1st, 2018 @ 03:23 PM

I always sort my messages by Date Received in reverse chronological order, so that the newest message is at the top. When I quit and relaunch MailMate, I have to restore the original sort, as it reverts to the default every time (oldest on top).

To reproduce: Just do it.

Do you see the same behavior in the latest test release: Hold down option when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.

As noted in my window-sizing report, I can't reproduce this on my home system, either. So it's something to do with the setup at work. Suggestions?

For what it's worth, I had this issue too (MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, still running Sierra). MailMate was also failing to remember my "Organize by Thread" setting, which I always uncheck. I installed the latest test release and both issues seem to be gone now, but I will update you if any issues recur.

Edit: Just to be clear, it's r5554 I'm now running.

@Conley: Do you still have this issue?

It appears to be fixed in 5552.

Still occurs in 5552. Just happened to me this morning again, launching MailMate after the computer had been asleep all night.

Yeah, it looks like it's still happening for me, too? It seems like it's a little intermittent... I'm using MailMate on two computers (iMac and MacBook Pro, both still Sierra) and each has at least two email accounts on it (the same ones, a Gmail and an Office365, plus my iMac has a third account), so it's a little hard to track. But it looks like sometimes the setting is affected on one account but not the other?

FWIW I have r5555 on my iMac and still r5554 on the MBP... I'm assuming no huge difference between those versions but I can update the MBP if necessary.

Anyway, I will try to track it more closely now that I have observed the issue happening in the recent test releases... will update if I figure out the pattern.

Quick check-in, updated to r5558 on both of my machines and so far I have not seen the issue recur, so maybe the bug is squashed for good now? As always, will update if I see it come back. Thanks as always for doing what you do @benny...

Yeah, I'm not seeing this at work, either. There was some mix-up with the layout after the update; I had to choose Wide Screen again. But after that, things seem okay.
