Rules are not applied
Reported by Ingo Lantschner | October 31st, 2018 @ 06:52 AM
After moving my whole data including applications to a new Mac MailMate does not apply the rules anymore. Neither automatically nor if I try to trigger by clicking on Apply rules ... I already tried to recreate the same rule - no way.
Any idea what could causing that? I also upgraded to Mojave during Migration.

You can try creating a smart mailbox with one or more of the same conditions to make sure that they do match something.
If you know how to use a Terminal window then you can also debug rules like this:
defaults write com.freron.MailMate MmDebugRules -bool YES
And launch MailMate like this:
/Applications/MailMate.app/Contents/MacOS/MailMate

Thanks Benny, I tried the first hint with the smart mailbox. It showed clearly that there were messages matching the criteria: From Address is gitlab@git.lantschner.name
I then relaxed the criteria in the rules for the inbox to: From Address contains gitlab@git.lantschner.name - and then after Applying the rules the messages were moved as expected.
So it seems as if the evaluation of the is / like operators are not the same between smart-mailbox conditions and rules?
All of this does not explain, how this is related to the migration to a new machine (or the update to Mojave). But since it works now, I am happy for the moment.
Thanks again!
