Shortcut for focusing on specific panes
Reported by Seth herr | October 4th, 2018 @ 05:32 PM
After I search for a message, to open the message I want to open I have to press tab a whole bunch of times - first to get to mailbox, and then to get through details, save, and the close button.
I would really like it if I could press control+1 to focus on the mailboxes pane, control+2 to focus on the list pane, etc - similar to how navigation between panes works in sublime text.
It's entirely possible that this functionality exists somehow and I don't know how to access it. I read through the keybindings files and searched for tickets and couldn't find it. If it is the case that the functionality exists, I think it would benefit from some additional visibility.

For people who find this issue and are looking for solutions to this problem - after you press enter to search, you can press enter again to focus on the message pane.
Using enter solves the most painful part of this problem
... However - it would still be great to have shortcuts to switch between panes. The tab indexes situation is worse now with the addition of the settings button at the bottom of the mailboxes list since it is another element that focuses as you're moving between the panes.

Low level, there's a custom key binding to focus a specific view:
"m" = ( "makeFirstResponder:", "mainOutline" );
You are right that some systematic (built-in) way of explicitly chancing focus would be useful.
