Now that not having this elementary feature has actually cost me money, thanks for never so much as acknowledging this request in the two and a half years since the first time I submitted it.

@Mike: I truly am sorry about that. In the ideal world I would have time to answer every ticket here and every incoming request by private email and the mailing list. Given the single resource I have (time), I do my best and try to balance it with working on MailMate itself -- which I do most of the time. I do feel terrible for every request I'm not responding to, but the only alternative is to stop working on MailMate.

MailMate is an advanced niche email application with a lot features and a lot of flaws. Users have equally advanced requests and complex problems and they do write me a lot. I can answer emails all day and I would still not be able to keep up.

Some days I have to fix some obscure security issue, some days I have to add OAuth2 support to make MailMate work for the Exchange people, some days I have to make some weird workaround for Gmail users, some days I have to fix self-inflicted stupid bugs in MailMate, some days I have to work around some weird issue in some weird IMAP server, some days I have to work around some weird issue with emails generated by some other email client/service, some months I have to rewrite parts of MailMate to work with the latest Apple frameworks, and the list goes on.

Today: I have to decide if it's all worth it...

Please stop using MailMate! It's clearly not helping you in your work.

Please stop removing/changing tickets -- they do have value for me and they are referenced in my internal system (even if I don't acknowledge/comment on them). I'll see if there are any payments I can still refund.

@Mike: Some of your patronage payments were already refunded, but I've stopped the patronage and refunded the latest payment ($10). The purchase of a license key ($30 in 2013) and one remaining patronage payment are more than 365 days ago and the payment system does not allow me to refund. Instead I've attempted to transfer the remaining $40 using PayPal (using your feedback email address). That's the best I can do. Let me know if I have missed any payments (maybe in a different name). I'll do my best to be quick to reply! (I'll certainly be working in my lighthouse-ticket-related email inbox today.)

You can, of course, continue to use the license key for MailMate as long as you need to migrate to a better email client. Based on earlier correspondence (and tickets) I think it's safe to say that MailMate (and my level of support) is not a match for you. I do get that. When I look at MailMate, I only see the bugs and missing features. When I look at my Inbox, I only see the unanswered emails.

    • State changed from “new” to “accepted”

@Mike: I've now cleaned up most of your tickets. I've kept the ones that were still in a state useful for me to reference in my own notes on existing issues/requests, but let me know if you want me to completely remove all tickets/comments related to you. Thanks for your 7 years with MailMate. I'm sorry it turned out to be such a frustrating experience for you.

(I have some existing notes of my own on making commands able to open a window with a message or a mailbox. Combined with rules that would likely make it possible to pop up incoming messages or mailboxes meeting specific conditions, but it might be another 7 years or more before it's implemented -- it's simply impossible to predict and I currently have 1 request for this feature. I'll update this ticket if it's ever implemented.)
