UI hangs during opening of GPG encrypted/signed mails.

Reported by _tnull | January 8th, 2018 @ 09:32 AM

When I open mail that are encrypted or signed, the user interface freezes (beachballs) until gpg ran its course. This is very annoying, especially when browsing through mail and accidentally coming across such a mail. The delay seems especially long for unknown keys - I guess gpg then tries to retrieve them from a keyserver?

Please decouple the UI and the spawned external commands, such as gpg. This would make the user experience for me a lot better, since I could browse my mail without fearing to stumble across some mail that causes the whole client to hang for several seconds.

Best Regards!

Yes, I believe the problem is the key server lookups. A workaround would be to disable automatic key retrieval (I think it's in GPGPreferences).

But I agree, it would be best if any gpg2 delays were handled by making the checks asynchronous, but it's not a quick fix.

MailMate could also do more to cache the results -- at least for a short time.
