Email account shows unavailable - trying to sign into Gmail

Reported by Chris Connor | July 15th, 2017 @ 08:10 AM

I am unable to access my google gmail using mailmate. I have tried every combination of passwords and verification methods I can think of. Two factor, etc. etc. etc.

I have upgraded to the latest iOS and have downloaded and installed the latest eSet security.

I have tried everything. I have been two days at this.

I have been using the internet since before it was called the internet. This has me stumped. I can access the accounts using MailPlane 3, etc.

I have used the login details from Google. I am lost. Is there a solution?

Chris

Sorry about the late reply. I already answered an email you sent a few days before creating this ticket. In that email I wrote:

I recommend first updating MailMate to the latest test release: Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.

Then make sure OAuth2 is enabled for both IMAP and SMTP. Your username should be the full email address and the servers are imap.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com.

If it still fails to work then let me know and we'll debug.

    Hello Benny,

I have tried everything you said above. Nothing worked:

    still showing unavailable.

    Regards

(I'm currently on vacation. Sorry about the slow response rate for this critical issue.)

    Try this:

    • Open the Activity Viewer in MailMate (⌥⌘0).
    • Relaunch MailMate.
    • Wait for it to fail and go “unavailable”.
    • Use “Help ▸ Send Server Logs”.

That last step won't really work if you don't have any working accounts in MailMate, but you can drag the file to disk and use another email client to send it. Don't upload it here since it might contain email addresses or other personal information.

Then I'll review the logs and see if I can spot anything.

I don't have any reports about Gmail not working with MailMate and therefore I think we are still looking for some kind of configuration issue.
