IMAP Account Not Being Seen?

Reported by Mark | September 17th, 2016 @ 08:33 PM

Very odd behavior. First noticed yesterday. It concerns one of five IMAP accounts I have set up in MM -- I'll call this IMAP acct "Oddball" for the purposes of this ticket. Into Oddball's Inbox flow emails addressed to a few different addresses, all of which are set up as forwarders to the IMAP acct that Oddball connects to. So far the strange behavior concerns two messages using the same Fastmail email address that forwards to the Oddball IMAP acct (don't know if this is important).

Two things have happened:

  1. An email is received in the Inbox of Oddball. The email is from a merchant I've successfully received email from in the past, and it's a confirmation. It appears in Oddball's Inbox, but does not appear in All Messages smart folder. At least at first glance, all other emails in Oddball appear in All Messages as usual. I redirected the "invisible" message to the same IMAP acct (Oddball); still not included in All Messages. I redirected to one of my other IMAP accts, and the redirected copy in the other IMAP acct appeared in All Messages (i.e. the problem seems not to be the message itself?).

  2. I just sent a message from the Fastmail address. Normally all messages I send from this address flow into Oddball's SENT folder, but today's sent message landed in the SENT folder of a different IMAP acct, which (coincidentally?) happens to be the next IMAP account above Oddball in my Sources list.

That's what's I'm seeing. Enjoy!

P.S. It happens that the e-mail address that's involved in this misbehavior is the address I'm registered as with this Issue Tracker.

    Sorry about the late reply.

    1. Sounds like you might have added some condition to the All Messages mailbox. Could you use “Mailbox ▸ Edit Smart Mailbox” to make sure this is not a configuration issue.

    2. I've got several reports about this today and I'll be looking into it. Let me know if this is reproducible behavior for you.

    Dear Benny,

Conditions and Rules for All Messages were the first thing I checked; there are none. So far it's been only the one e-mail message on that one day -- and that message, still sitting in the IMAP Inbox, is still not appearing in All Messages. Just in case it might shed some light, I'm pasting in, below, the raw message in question (minus the .pdf attachment). Also, there have been no further errant sent messages falling into the wrong Sent folder.

Again, sorry about the late reply. If you have had issue number 2 again then please try the latest test release and let me know if it still happens (hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane).

Issue 1: Do you still have this email sitting in your Inbox and not in All Messages? Ah, I think I can see what triggers it. It does not have a Date: header and this probably means that it's weirdly located in the sorting of the mailbox. I believe it's actually in there somewhere.
