#121 ✓fixreleased

Insertion point when replying.

Reported by Steve H | May 3rd, 2011 @ 09:12 PM

I've noticed a minor problem when replying to an email but only quoting a selection of the original message. Typically I will do this by selecting some text and then hitting ⌘-R.

If I don't select text I can just begin typing my reply with no problem. If I select text first then I always get a '>' character after the text insertion point and need to manually delete this before typing.

For me it does not work at all. All the message is included in the answer when I select a part of the message and click on Reply.

I behavior similar to Steve's report:

    • select text
    • ⌘R
    • press because my text cursor is at the end of the reply
    • a new ">" shows up to the right of my text cursor on the new line
    • <forward-delete> to get rid of the extraneous ">"

Steve/Erik: I think you are describing the same problem. As a workaround, make sure you select the entire last line of the text selection (if possible) so the final newline is included. I've fixed the code to add such a newline automatically.

Tantignac: Look in Preferences/General. It is off by default since I find this feature annoying myself :-) Too often I have selected something for other purposes than replying. I prefer cutting extraneous text in the Composer.
