It's a subtle indication that it's not a real IMAP folder. It's a weird IMAP thing where subfolders can exist without the parent folder explicitly existing. If you copy a message to the mailbox then I believe MailMate is going to try to create the IMAP folder on the server. If you remove the message again then the folder still exists. You should then be able to delete it without deleting its subfolders and the icon goes away again. (I haven't verified all of this works as intended.)

I have the same problem, and there is no way to delete it (Delete Mailbox is greyed out). It is a mailbox/folder with no icon. It also has sub-folders/mailboxes underneath it. In addition, the server has no such folders. Is there anyway I can get rid of it?

    Thanks,
    Ben

@Ben: Do you see this as part of the IMAP folders in the the account under SOURCES in the mailbox outline? In theory, this should mean the subfolders do exist on the server. You can review all folders in the account using “Edit Subscriptions” in the IMAP account editor (“File ▸ Edit IMAP Account”). Do you see them there?

Yes, I see this folder in the account under SOURCES in the mailbox outline (without the triangle icon), but it doesn't show up when I go to "Edit Subscriptions" in the IMAP account editor.

@Ben: That does look strange. It's certainly not mailbox names made up by MailMate which means I think they have existed in some form at some point. What happens if you take the mailboxes online (“Mailbox ▸ Take Online”). Especially those with an icon within the hierarchy of non-existing mailboxes.

    Is it an Exchange server?

It is, by the way, not the same issue as the original creator of this ticket. You should write to me directly via “Help ▸ Send Feedback” instead of via this ticket.
