Mailmate won't send emails or import iCloud account

Reported by Tom Burka | September 7th, 2014 @ 01:37 AM

Set up Mailmate manually, confirmed that it would send by sending test email. Everything worked beautifully (was ready to pull the trigger to buy -- much better than any other email client for the mac, hands down), but now Mailmate won't send emails. I send the email, nothing happens, it doesn't end up listed in the sent items menu, I don't get an error message, no activity in the activity viewer.

Because I thought I had perhaps set up the smpt part of the account wrong, I tried to import my email accounts from Mail, but MailMate doesn't see them. Humph.

Hmm, it sounds like the account does not have any SMTP settings. Do you see the messages in the Drafts folder, pending forever?

Check the settings via “File ▸ Edit IMAP Account”. Also update to the latest test version since I believe I improved this a bit some time ago: Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.

    Thanks for trying out MailMate.

I have smpt settings entered, but I must have them wrong. Strange thing is, these worked initially. I have smpt.me.com, port 587, username=my email addy. I have also tried same with username=just my username without the @mac.com part, smpt.mail.me.com -- I have no idea why this is not working. I receive mail perfectly fine.

And, yes, all of these messages are listed int he drafts folder as
    pending submission."

I assume you meant smtp.me.com and not smpt.me.com?

I suggest you use Help ▸ Send Feedback to send me the following two files:

    ~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/Sources.plist
    ~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/Submission.plist

I can then review them to see if MailMate has done something wrong.

Ok, geez--I knew it was me and not Mailmate. I changed the outgoing server from smtp.me.com to smpt.me.com and then back again and now everything works. Dyslexia foils software. (I must have had it wrong in there to begin with.)

Love Mailmate--the search fathers alone make it invaluable to me. (Used Postbox and simply don't understand the positive reviews--uck).

I'll open a new ticket if I again break your program.

Well, obviously MailMate should have been better at warning you about the problem. I'm glad it works for you now.
