Feature request: Maximum width of text that is being inserted
Reported by Stephane Wirtel | January 20th, 2014 @ 10:20 AM
Here is a good description of this feature from vim.
Maximum width of text that is being inserted. A longer line will
be broken
after white space to get this width.
Thank you,
Stephane

Are you asking for hard-wrapping in the composer? That's not a feature I'm going to add unless you can convince me that it's really needed. Note that MailMate uses
format=flowed
when generating emails. This means that the raw email generated is hard-wrapped, but the receiving email client can still unwrap it (possibly based on the preference of the recipient). A message hard-wrapped by the sender (withoutformat=flowed
) cannot reliably be unwrapped by the recipient. In other words, paragraphs can no longer be identified and quoted paragraphs quickly become very ugly.
