Hold down ⇧ when clicking Retry when the error shows. That should generate a log file on your desktop of the retry attempt (which hopefully also fails). I can use that to see if this is a MailMate or server issue (the only difference being that I can either fix a bug or make a workaround for a server).

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Benny,

Just want to know if there are any updates on this issue? Thanks.

Sorry, I'm a bit swamped with emails at the moment. Your problem is related to the server not supporting the so-called UIDPLUS extension. (MailMate should work with that, but it might reveal bugs that most people don't experience):

Quick analysis. MailMate tries to locate a message using its Message-ID:

    C: J12 UID SEARCH UID 1:* ON 13-Nov-2013 HEADER "MESSAGE-ID" "528388986e6a6_572e12968045191f4@chi-prod-bgleader-1.nr-ops.net.mail"
S: J12 BAD UID SEARCH invalid argument

The problem is that I cannot see that anything is wrong with that command. It's not “BAD”. As a quick test I tried connecting to another IMAP account and send the command and that worked fine.

The error unfortunately does not tell us which argument is invalid. This makes it even harder to come up with a workaround.

    Hi Benny,

Thanks for your quick response. I guess #485 should be the same problem. Anyway, if there is a solution coming up in the future, please let me know. Thanks.

I believe I recently fixed this issue by simply stopping to use UID SEARCH at all in the IMAP code. I now use a different approach to solve the problem.

Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane to try it out. Thanks for reminding me about this ticket (I had forgotten about to update it).
