Custom notification sound?

I have a confession: I rather like Mail's stereo 'swoosh' when an email goes out. But for practically everything else I prefer MailMate. I've copied the audio files from Mail's package... is there a way to get MailMate to use that sound rather than one of the options in the Sent Message Sound popup menu?

Yes, place the sound(s) in
~/Library/Sounds/. Then they should appear in the sound popup in the preferences.(This might change if MailMate becomes sandboxed at some point. I'm not sure I would then be allowed to read that folder.)
