Imap "C6 BAD Parse command error"

Reported by Joao Guimaraes | February 24th, 2021 @ 01:03 PM

Hello,

I am testing MailMate and I am finding problems when syncing to the imap server from my institution.
The error, that is repeated many times for different folders, is below. I came to believe this is linked to having sub-folders in the imap server. Like in this example: “MP/Lists/Read Later”.
It seems like all folders without subfolders are syncing, and all with subfolders are not.

ERROR:
MailMate encountered the following error: “Server response: “C6 BAD Parse command error”.”.
Mailbox: “MP/Lists/Read Later”.

This was actually already happening with earlier versions of MailMate and that is the reason why I stop trying to use it, but I am hoping this issue can be solved, so that I can move to MailMate. The problem does not happen with any other email program.

My system: MailMate/5757/9EA0559E-8573-50FF-A1C6-C763313C0E58 11.2.1/x86_64/MacBookPro11,3/8

Thank you,
-Joao

Hello, i was wondering if someone will look into this imap error, or if this is just something that it is not relevant and it will not be taken care of.
The problem persists with me, and it only happens with MailMate.
    Regards,
    -Joao

Sorry about the late reply. Thanks for the logs which are exactly what I needed.

    This is what happens:

    20:38:05 C: C6 LIST ATLAS ""
    20:38:05 S: C6 BAD Parse command error
20:38:05 Error: Server response: “C6 BAD Parse command error”.

MailMate does this to find out what the so-called hierarchy delimiter is for the server, but it appears this server doesn't like it. This is a server bug (the technique is documented here).

I've tried to expand the workarounds done by MailMate when something fails like the above. Please try the latest test release and see if it works for you: r5788

Thanks for your patience. Let me know if it doesn't work.
