Endless activity with G Suite account - Fetch loop

Reported by Jake Bernstein | September 21st, 2020 @ 06:19 PM

One of my 2 Gmail accounts is stuck in some kind of endless loop. I have a gif showing the activity, but here it is:

H15XXX NOOP
H15XXX UID FETCH 15521 (FLAGS)
H15XXX UID FETCH 15521 (X-GM-LABELS)

The H15XXX number is shifting and there are more steps than that with different H15XXX numbers, but hopefully that's enough to identify the problem.

Update: This is now causing my G Suite account to be throttled.

Update! I managed to get it to stop by killing a series of connections between tags and Gmail labels. I suspect something is happening on the Gmail side with a rule I created or something. Either way, I've found the cause.

The handling of Gmail labels and MailMate tags is complex which means it's not impossible that there could be some kind of loop. I haven't seen it before though. Usually throttling is related to very large Gmail accounts which take a long time to (initially) synchronize.

If you find that some MailMate settings are causing the loop (without a server rule being involved) then try creating some logs for me again. Remember that the Activity Viewer window must be open for logging to be enabled.
