Some IMAP servers support an extension known as QUOTA. This allows the email client to ask for the space available on the server and how much is used. It has been a frequent request by users and it was added quite some time ago. (Unfortunately, it was also followed by having to do numerous workarounds for IMAP servers giving wrong or unexpected replies to QUOTA requests.)

It is shown when you click on an account under Sources. If you click on the gear-icon next to it then you can also see the exact QUOTA data from the server.
