Deleting mail in Smart Mailbox loses navigation focus

Macbook Pro mid-2015, High Sierra, latest (released) version of MailMate.
Expected behaviour: In a Smart Mailbox, using the keyboard to delete a message should move the focus to the next message on the list so that you can continue hitting 'delete'.
Observed behaviour: In a Smart Mailbox, using the keyboard to delete a message shifts the navigation focus away from the Smart Mailbox requiring you to navigate back to the message list pane in order to delete the next message.
Issue seems related to the latest release, using MM for years without this issue. No other system changes. Note that this only seems to impact Smart Mailboxes, the All Mail folder works as expected.

- State changed from “new” to “fixcommitted”
Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane to get a test release. That should fix the issue although it might also introduce other issues (it involves a rewrite of a lot of code).
