Unread smart mailbox behaviour

Reported by CT | September 11th, 2018 @ 11:07 AM

Version 1.12 (5523)

When I delete a message in the unread smart mailbox it marks the next message in the list as unread, but doesn't actually select/view it. Can't reproduce it in an actual mailbox or other smart folders.

I'm getting the same behavior. It seems only to occur with truly new mail; messages re-marked as unread don't trigger the problem.

What I'm seeing may be related: when using the arrow keys to scroll through unread mails, the selected mail indicator (the highlighting on a message) disappears, and the arrow keys no longer select messages. I have to click on the list of messages to allow scrolling through the messages again.

This is a major fail for my normal use; I'm staying with 1.11.3 until this is verified fixed.

    Thanks for the reports.

@Steve: I assume this happens when using the setting to automatically mark emails as read? I think I can reproduce this with that setting (or at least a variant of the issue). Do you have it a 0 seconds or more?

@CT: I'm not able to reproduce this. Do you use the “automatically mark as read” feature and what is the number of seconds? (See the Viewer preferences pane.)

Set to automatically mark as read after 0 seconds.

    • State changed from “new” to “fixcommitted”

Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane to try a test release which tries to fix this and some related issues. Let me know if it doesn't work for you.
