Is MailMate going to work for me?

Reported by Brian Reid | February 27th, 2018 @ 12:35 AM

I bought MailMate and launched it. I followed the instructions. It ran a long time, so I went home for the day and left it running. When I came back my Finder said "Your system has run out of application memory" and said MailMate was "paused". I don't see any way to upload an image so I can't send you a screen shot.

Hardware: iMac Retina 5K (Late 2014), 16GB RAM, 3TB of disk (2.6TB available).
OS: macOS Sierra 10.12.6 build 16G1212

my IMAP mail account has 37862 messages in 21 folders. Well, that's today's count. It was about the same size when MailMate failed.

Such a small number of messages shouldn't trigger a memory issue (MailMate can be memory-hungry for large message stores). That makes it more likely that the problem might be some kind of memory leak or busy-loop.

Have you tried force quitting MailMate and launch it again? If you can do this, how far is MailMate in the process of fetching emails?

If it's still hanging/working then try this command in a Terminal window (if you know how):

    sample MailMate 10 -f ~/Desktop/sample_mailmate.txt

Then upload the resulting file here.

Also, just to be sure it's not a fixed issue. Try the the latest test release of MailMate: https://updates.mailmate-app.com/archives/MailMate_r5460.tbz

Thanks in advance. Sorry about the late response (I overlooked the seriousness of the issue).
