Can you flag From Address Derivation

Reported by vic239 | August 28th, 2017 @ 08:30 AM

Would it be possible to add a notification of some sort when the from email address is changed as a result of the auto-derivation feature? I understand the principles behind this feature, but as a new user unused to this behaviour it has resulted in mail going out with an inappropriate address and something to catch the eye might alleviate this.

Thanks.

I'll add this to my notes about re-implementing the status bar in the Composer. Part of that is likely to be to move the From popup to a more prominent location and I'll consider if it could also be more obvious when it is auto-derived.

There's a hidden preference to completely disable this feature if that is preferable for you:

defaults write com.freron.MailMate MmNeverDeriveSenderBasedOnRecipient -bool YES

(MailMate still finds the proper identity when replying to or forwarding emails.)

Thank you very much benny, I’ll use the preference setting meantime.

The From header is now part of the headers list. This should also make it a bit easier to spot when it changes.
