Can not send PGP signed/crypted email

Reported by Thomas Mangin | June 13th, 2016 @ 07:01 PM

Hi,

When trying to send PGP signed/crypted email, I am getting the following error message:

Failed to find identity to sign for thomasm@linx.net.
The specified item could not be found in the keychain. Error code: -25300

Running the program on the command line gives:

defaults write com.freron.MailMate LoggingEnabled -bool YES defaults write com.freron.MailMate MmDebugSecurity -bool YES

The error messages are related to S/MIME. Check what you have enabled in the Security preferences pane and make sure the Composer has OpenPGP selected in the status bar.

    Hi Benny,

Thank you for your prompt response, much appreciated at this late hour.

Both are ticked in the Preference. If I select OpenPGP in the compose window, the mail is indeed well sent signed (Thanks - failed to try that !), otherwise this message is received.

However I was trying to get the PGP signature as an attachment and sending it this way does not achieve this goal. Anything else I could/should check ?

    Sincerely,

    Thomas

I'm not sure that's quite clear to me. It works now, but you were then trying to send something as an attachment?

(MailMate uses OpenPGP/MIME which means that a signature is always a separate MIME body part.)

I was just trying to send some plain text. I checked the mail content and it does indeed use multiparts.
So i am happy to close this thread unless you want me to help you debug why the S/MIME option did not work.
