Infinite Loop

Reported by Keith | May 26th, 2016 @ 06:36 PM

Added three smart folders selecting messages from "All messages" matching certain senders, and for the first time added a rule with a condition. To "move to Deleted Messages" on the condition that the date of the message was not within 7 days. (I used this action in the absence of an explicit "delete message" action)

I do not know if the subsequent problem is related, but removing the delete message actions hasn't helped.

MM started going into a perpetual spin.

I force-quit disconnected the network, and took all servers offline.

Taking one account online, sets MM spinning again.

Given that it happens when you go online might indicate that the arrival of a message triggers an infinite loop.

Can you generate a sample of the hang like this:

    sample MailMate 5 -f ~/Desktop/sample_mailmate.txt

Maybe also send me your mailbox settings (if you have another way to do that). They are stored in this file:

    ~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/Mailboxes.plist

Having deleted the three new smart mailboxes the problem still persists.

You still have an active rule in this folder: “Mailing Lists Blob”. Just to be sure, try disabling this as well to make sure it's not related to the issue.

Also, when MailMate is not running, try renaming “Mailboxes.plist” to see if you also have the problem with the default set of mailboxes. You can rename it back afterwards to get your mailboxes back (again, when MailMate is not running).

    1. Removed that last rule as suggested
    2. Brought a small account on line and it appeared to finish syncing
(possibly it got further than before, the syncing animation stopped, and a count appeared)
    3. Then coloured wheel of death.

Repeated having renamed Mailboxes.plist as suggested, same result.

Rebuilt the database, so far all is good.
