Slowness in selecting/loading multiple messages

When selecting multiple messages (up to a certain number - 100 or 200 depending on the mailbox) Mailmate now automatically loads them all into the viewer window, with nicely formatted headers.
This can be a useful thing, but it can take a lot of time. When selecting say 30 or 40 message I'll get the spinning wheel for at least a couple of seconds.
Is this something can be controlled? I would prefer to turn the feature off for more that say 10 messages (maybe a settable preference), but still have the option to load more if I want.

There is a hidden option:
defaults write com.freron.MailMate MmMaximumMessagesDisplayed -integer 10The multi-message display is an old and primitive hack. Eventually I hope to improve how multiple messages are displayed and then I'll consider what to do if a large number is selected.
